We had a great session on July 19th playing with KeyWorx both in single-user and collaborative modes.

At Dan's suggestion, we started the morning with some group excercises to get a feel for what everyone understood by the term 'collaboration.' Since most of the group was clearly familiar with sports and/or video games, we used metaphors from those areas to talk about digital media and what parallels might exist to collaboration and teamplay in the creative process of digital mediamaking. Some other exercises included making a drawn 'Exquisite Corpse' and discussing the results.

In the afternoon we went through a variety of keyworx basics including working with text, oscillators, color, images, and videos, gave them some time to play and experiment. Despite the inherent difficulties in learning a new composition system such as keyworx in one day, the participants had a very successful time creating new material and jumped right in enthusiastically - trying and learning as they went - with excellent and impressive results.

We then opened up two multi-user spaces with four particiapants each to jam with each other using video and stills they had created in previous workshops.

After the jam, we did some followup and reviewed the resulting footage.
