  • Dubai American Academy - Dubai, UAE

We are currently working with Dubai American Academy, sharing Kids Connect Island with them so that they can have space for their pilot project. They are building a replica of the Dubai American Academy as well as making some tutorials and machinima. The resulting curriculum and deliverables will all be shared. We plan on continuing a partnership with them and integrating them into future activities.

  • Eleanor Roosevelt High School (ELRO) - New York, NY

We just had a meeting last week with the principal and some faculty of ELRO. They are a very progressive school, and their approach toward integrated learning and technology is pretty innovative. They have already had some experience with networked projects, as last year they did a project between their students and students in Kenya. They are interested in creating a sustainable course that involves integrating the curricula in Kids Connect with the curricula within their own courses, i.e., we would be working with their physics, math, drama, art, etc teachers - to create overlapping activities. We are in the planning phases of this and it may manifest in either a summer project or longer school-year project or both. It would be great to create something long-term with them that is a collab with students in the Amsterdam schools.

  • Blue Bell School - Oviedo, Spain

Blue Bell School is a language school in Oviedo, Spain. They are very interested in creating a similar Kids Connect project that will emphasize language learning along with the cultural exchange and creative collaboration. I've been talking with the owner/director Madian Prado, and she is keen on making this happen in summer 2008. We are in the planning phases and will be writing grants for it soon.

  • Patel Conservatory - Tampa, FL

Patel Conservatory is a performing arts conservatory that is linked to the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center in Tampa, Florida. The Executive Director, Wendy Leigh, is an old friend that I've been planning with for a while now. We finally got a grant written this past year and will most likely get the funding (the grant got high scores from the panel - so now we're just waiting to hear back for confirmation). Their students are all performing-arts oriented so the performance element will fit perfectly with the cultural exchange stuff. They are also thinking of launching something in summer 2008. Thoughts are to pair them up with the Blue Bell School in Spain for their pilot project, especially since Florida has such an hispanic background. http://patelconservatory.org/

  • Te Papa Tongarewa - Wellington, New Zealand

Te Papa Tongarewa is a museum in Wellington, New Zealand that blends elements of folk art and Maori culture, with contemporary art. They are very keen on building up their online arts initiatives and we are looking into creating a program with them. This is in the further future - possibly 2009. Thoughts are to pair them up with a youth community in San Francisco, since San Fran and Wellington have a lot of similarities and are usually compared (topographically, culturally, etc). The project will probably involve partnerships with Helen Varley Jamieson, a networked performance artist also in New Zealand & her company that makes Upstage, a web-based venue for online performance.
