The Clowes Fund seeks to enhance the common good by encouraging organizations and projects that help to build a just and equitable society, create opportunities for initiative, foster creativity and the growth of knowledge, and promote appreciation of the natural environment. Con Edison aids organizations that present visual and performing arts programs to the public; that promote tourism and foster economic development; and that provide opportunities - especially for students - in traditionally underserved communities. Con Edison also supports arts-in-education projects that introduce schoolchildren to the cultural and artistic resources of their communities. Their awards are made on a rotating basis, and the company is generally more interested in specific projects rather than general operating support. February 28 - Union Square Arts Award
The Union Square Awards are annual awards made to grassroots organizations working in New York City.
Established in 2006, the Union Square Arts Award recognizes arts organizations working with youth and families in low-income communities throughout New York City in ongoing, innovative, and creative ways. All artistic disciplines — dance, theater, music, visual arts, film, media arts, and creative writing — are eligible. The goal is to identify arts projects and organizations making a significant impact and contribution to the lives of participants and their communities.
Grants will range from $25,000 to $50,000 each.

March 23 - Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Arts Connect Program
is designed to strengthen the presentation of performing artists by supporting artist/presenter collaborations and partnerships anchored in the states and jurisdictions of the mid-Atlantic region. April 16 - Association of Arts Presenters Travel Subsidy Grants Travel
Subsidy grants of up to $2,000 are available to theatre directors, producers, presenters, managers, artists and agents to see work by ensemble theatre companies who have initiated a dialogue with them about a long-term partnership. In addition, artistic, production, education, publicity or marketing staff at ensemble theatre companies are eligible for funds to
visit a potential host theatre or arts presenter in order to effectively prepare for an engagement at least 6-12 months in advance.

Ongoing through May - Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation
provides funding to organizations based in New York City's five boroughs. Grants generally range from $5,000 to $10,000. Rush Philanthropic supports programs in the art disciplines that are designed to expose young persons to opportunities for creative related professions. While funding is considered on an invitation only basis, you may introduce the Foundation to the work of your organization by submitting a one-page letter outlining mission, history, and programs. Letters of inquiry are accepted from October to May of each year. If you are invited to apply for a grant you will be notified in June. Applications are due September 1

June 11 - Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth Grants
Part of the National Endowment for the Arts' Grants for Arts Projects program. Learning in the Arts grants of $5,000 - $150,000 fund projects that help children and youth acquire knowledge and understanding of, and skills in, the arts. Funded projects apply national or state arts education standards and must include an opportunity for all of the following components: experience, study, performance, and assessment. Projects may take place in school-based or community-based settings and should focus on children and youth ages 5-18. June 1, 2008 is earliest beginning date for period of support.
